It felt so nice. I love climbing up the Hike and Bike hills. I had a realization today... I think my road bike was the greatest thing to ever occur. I can't get the seat fixed in the proper angle though, which makes for a killer ride... literally.

I've been averaging about 50-60 miles a week, which is awesome. PLUS, I have a biking buddy that is not scared of going fast or doing sweet and random things. So that basically rules.

Life is good. My goal is to lose 15 pounds by the end of summer. NOT because I think I'm fat, but because it will 1. make biking easier, 2. bring me to my healthy optimal weight, 3. make me feel super active. I really need to get in shape, and quick.

In other news, I have offically detoxed for 34 days, and I have never felt better. I believe this is permanent -- in more aspect that one. :)

Blessings!
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-22191661527459190422009-03-25T19:25:00.000-07:002009-03-26T23:50:06.532-07:00Bike Fixin' and Ridin'John taught me a few things about bikes, and in the process -- my bike is now good to go!!! Check it out:

I'm kind of iffy on the shifters, but I will get the hang of them soon enough.

Already put some miles on my bike too. They are as follows:

--Thursday 03/26 -- 13.4 miles (7.5 miles were with John. That was fun, and it made me remember how fun it is to ride with other people. Wow... I really wish I had a riding buddy.)

--Friday 03/27 -- 7.5 miles

I feel so balanced as of late. My attempt at detoxing didn't go too well, but I'm starting again. You only live once, right? :-P

Had a killer yoga sesh yesterday, which pretty much motivated me to do pilates. Pretty pumped about that. (Note to self: GET A NEW YOGA MAT ALREADY!)

One last thing. I feel like all of this new energy in my life should be accompanied by a really random and spontaneous change so I'm cutting off all of my hair tomorrow. :) I can't even wait.

P.S. I am really obsessed with Rilo Kiley this week -- so many good jams.
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-60000260877493964842009-03-18T21:23:00.001-07:002009-03-18T21:23:37.552-07:001.4 miles today, sweet stuff
bike is broken again :( but will be fixed soon

TO DO: get road bike all jazzed up for SUMMER RIDINGGGGG
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-59883009655447268892009-03-10T19:16:00.000-07:002009-03-10T19:20:56.080-07:00offsetting bad habits...jogged 1.4 miles yesterday

1.6 today

I am not, by any means, a runner so this is pretty okay for me. There are good vibes written all over this one.
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-13231601340210619302009-02-18T20:30:00.000-08:002009-02-18T20:34:13.980-08:00Update:Might as well post this before I forget the figures.

Just got back from the Rec Center. Jogged 1 mile and biked 7 miles -- Average mph 18.0. I'm pretty pumped about that.
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-63945379252991724022009-02-18T15:20:00.000-08:002009-02-18T15:36:01.297-08:00A change of pace...Went to the Rec Center yesterday -- jogged 2.1 miles. A small beginning, but a beginning nonetheless. I figured that if I want to start getting in better shape, jogging is the way to go.

As a diet side-note: it seems full-fletched veganism is right around the corner for me. Granted, I'm pretty vegan now, but I might as well go all of the way for the betterment of my health.

I'm ending my night with a pretty intense yoga session tonight -- or so I plan to. Ideally, I want to master crow pose for what it's worth. Also, hip-openers and hamstring stretches will be a main point of focus, especially considering the fact I am starting to jog more often.

Things are great.

Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-42012498510713449042009-02-11T20:36:00.000-08:002009-02-11T20:44:41.353-08:00In the motions, all the things that you say. It all will fall, fall right into place.Things are well -- the weather is great, school is coming along nicely and I have found some motivation deep inside to do things in my best interest.

I applied for a biology job yesterday in the lab. Hopefully I get it!! That would be super cool.

I've been keeping up with yoga also! Which is something that I promised myself I would try to do. Next step: master crow pose and move on to more advance asana. As another unrelated exercise note -- rode 10 miles today! Riding over 5 really makes me wish I had my road bike in check. Oh well, soon enough.

***note: get pedals, toe clips, new tubes, possibly new tires, bibs, jersey, wrap bars

Everything is falling right into place. :)

Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451037723472217280.post-54925579097108015142009-01-10T16:31:00.001-08:002009-03-25T14:26:01.508-07:00Falling right into place...I am doing this blog in hopes of sparking the motivation that I seem to be lacking in my life as of late. It's a new year, and I am determined to treat it as such. To hell with the past, I am ready for a few changes.

Resolutions are pretty overrated in my opinion, but I think that I should at least set some goals to help me feel accomplished when this thing is all said and done.

My goals are as follows, but not limited to:

bike a ton -- let's say at least 3,000 miles this year, which turns out to be like 8 miles a day (it figures that I am already behind by 80 miles...)

do yoga more!!!

straight A's (a.k.a. take everything a bit more serious)

maintain a diet that consists of mostly vegan foods

start reading

School should be pretty good this semester seeing as I am starting to get in to my Major classes. A taste of my schedule, which seems is turning out to be 19 credit hours:

Economic Botany (2)

Elements of Genetics (3)

General Chemistry 1 (4)

General Chemistry Lab (1)

Trigonometry (2)

Basic Probability and Statistics (3)

Introduction to Independent Investigation (1-2)

As a side note, I have started drawing. I hope to turn these drawing into some sort of collaboration involving batik work. Nothing too special, but just something fun to do.
Kaitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09880134190286119302noreply@blogger.com2
